Join me to make a beautiful, soft slab textured piece of pottery that is custom and handmade from the heart.
Use all of our decorating tools and templates to hand build your own pottery. This is a fun introduction to clay, with lots of opportunity to get creative.
Who is this class for?
This workshop is intended for anyone 16 and up. It’s a beginner level.
How long is the workshop?
2 Hours with cleanup included.
What do I make?
Everyone is given a large piece of slab to work with. There is enough clay for everyone to make one vase. All stamps, texture tools and materials are provided.
Can I cancel once I’ve booked and paid for a spot?
Sure! But…it’s up to you to find a replacement person. Much like purchasing a concert/theatre ticket, once you reserve/purchase your spot…It’s yours. There are no refunds. I don’t have time to keep a waiting list or find someone to replace you. ☺️
How this workshop works:
Day of: Dress for Mess! We recommend wearing clothes you can get muddy in. Think gardening clothes. We currently cannot provide aprons for classes.
Show up 5-15 minutes early. We promise we're friendly, there's lots to see in our studio PLUS sometimes there are cats here!
I’ll go through the instructions step-by-step to build your vase. The decorating part is all you! I’ll also give you some basic knowledge on the pottery processes.
Cleanup is a shared activity. Everyone lends a hand and is responsible for cleaning their space as much as possible.
Dangly bracelets and rings can get in your way. And clay gets into them.
BRING texture inspiration! Everyone is given a select number of texture tools, but if you bring leaves, flowers and lace the world of possibilities will grow
Is it your first time?
Probably not! If you’ve ever made a pie or played with play-doh…then you have more experience than you thought! But, this workshop is a fantastic introduction to pottery and clay.
Reminder: You may have seen lots of gorgeous handmade pieces you want to replicate or take inspiration from, but remember you don't see the 100s or 1000s of failed pieces those artists made. I encourage you to focus on the process and not creating absolute perfection. Your piece will be created by your hands. It will not be machine made by the millions. 🤗
Picking up your finished piece
There's a saying "nothing like pottery to teach you patience". We first bisque fire your pieces, then once cooled we glaze and refire. Pieces usually take 2-4 weeks. We email everyone when the pieces are ready for pick up. We fire according to size and best fit in the kiln.
The Shoppe, 84 Milton St., Courtright, ON. N0N 1H0
There are only 4 students in a class, so they fill up fast! At this time I cannot accommodate any extra students as I only have a cozy workspace.
******* IMPORTANT - Your registration fee is non-refundable! Once you pay for your spot, it's yours. Like any event/concert/workshop…it’s your responsibility to ‘sell’ your spot, not mine. No exceptions.******
